Mercer ePrism Redesign
ePrism is a compensation analysis tool used by HR professionals. The UI redesign established a consistent visual language that could extend across Mercer’s broader Talent Impact suite. Although ePrism was scheduled to be sunset, the project’s primary value lay in developing a reusable design system for future applications.
-
Fixed User Flow: The application’s structure and functionality could not be altered, so all improvements had to come through visual design, requiring creative problem-solving to enhance usability within strict constraints.
Designing for Unseen Applications: The new style needed to support five additional tools in the Talent Impact suite—none of which were available for review—demanding forward-thinking design decisions.
High Subject Matter Expertise: ePrism’s complexity meant users relied heavily on a limited set of frequent tasks, requiring close collaboration with analysts and stakeholders to prioritize clarity where it mattered most.
-
Stakeholder Interviews: Collaborated with clients and internal analysts to identify key usability challenges and visual priorities.
Wireframes: Explored layout refinements within the fixed flow to enhance clarity and usability.
Icon Audit: Assessed existing iconography and identified opportunities for simplification and consistency.
Visual Design: Created a modern UI system with a unified icon set and branded color palette to reinforce interactivity and cohesion.
-
Consolidated Actions: Centralized scattered interface actions into a single, cohesive area, improving scanability and reducing cognitive load.
Universal Icon Set: Designed a reusable icon system for the entire Talent Impact suite to promote visual consistency.
Branded Interaction Cues: Introduced a single, brand-aligned color to clearly indicate interactive elements.
